<p>When you go through this promotion, you’ll see that you must have a &#8220;captivating&#8221; headline. Next, you must &#8220;personalize&#8221; your promotions when using postcards, letters, or fliers to your prospects or clients. This will get a higher readership and a better response.</p>
<p>Your copy must state the problem the reader is experiencing. Agitate your prospect’s problem. Then solve the reader’s problem with your product or service (problem, agitate, and solve). This is your basic concept when starting your salon promotions. I&#8217;ve mapped it out in the example below, and I even highlighted each ingredient that makes up a successful promotion.</p>
<p>You cannot have a good promotion without an &#8220;irresistible offer.&#8221; Tell your prospects why this is such a great deal. Make the offer so irresistible that they can’t say no.</p>
<p>Give your prospect or client the &#8220;benefits&#8221; of using your products or services.</p>
<p>In all your promotions, you must have a “deadline” or create “scarcity.” Give the reader a reason why they should buy immediately. If you miss adding a deadline your response rate goes way down along with your income. OUCH!</p>
<p>Don’t forget to have a “strong” call to action. Tell the reader what you want them to do. Call a phone number or go to a website, etc.</p>
<p>You should always have a strong guarantee in every promotion. This removes the risk from your prospective buyer.</p>
<p>Make sure you include a P. S. in your promotions when sending postcards, letters, or fliers. People are curious about the sender. So they look at the signature and end up reading the P. S. first. The P. S. should restate the offer, benefits, or deadline.</p>
<p>Here’s where I’ll walk you through a salon marketing promotion step-by-step so that you can see exactly how it’s crafted. Remember that we’re using the “Problem, Agitate, and Solve” scenario in this letter. There are a variety of ways to write a promotion, but this is the most common.</p>
<p>Example salon marketing promotion: <strong>(Headline)</strong> FREE Facial Reserved for Margaret Downs</p>
<p><strong>(Personalized Salutation)</strong> Dear Margaret,</p>
<p><strong>(Problem)</strong> Are you fed up with creams and antidotes that promise to rid you of your brown, unsightly blemishes, also known as “Age Spots”? Have you tried every concoction known to man with <strong>No visible</strong> results? If you’re sick and tired of <strong>wasting</strong> hundreds of dollars on creams, ointments, and gels that simply <strong>don’t work</strong>, I’m here to offer you a better solution that’s <strong>Risk FREE</strong> for a limited time.</p>
<p><strong>(Agitate)</strong> My name is Lori Greenberg.  I own and manage The Sunlight Spa right here in your home town. Here at The Sunlight Spa we understand that life can take a devastating toll on our skin over the years (the kids, the stress, the sun, and let’s not forget &#8220;father time&#8221;).  I also know how frustrating it can be to spend hundreds of dollars on &#8220;hopeful&#8221; products that simply do nothing.<strong> (Irresistible Offer)</strong> That’s why I’m offering you a FREE skin rejuvenation treatment. <p>When starting a salon marketing promotion your best customers are the ones who have purchased from you in the past. Your past customers are more likely to purchase from you again and again. This is a great way to get old customers back into your salon.</p>
<p>Here’s how you can boost your sales within 14 days using your old customer list. I hope you collect the names and addresses of your customers, past and present. I’m assuming you do.</p>
<p>1.	Pull your list of customers who have not purchased from you in the past 60 to 90 days.</p>
<p>2.	Write them a nice letter and make them an irresistible offer on one of your salon products or services.</p>
<p>3.	When writing your sales letter, make sure you personalize the name. And make sure you give your customer a date to respond by (14 day Deadline.)</p>
<p>4.	Send your letter and check your response. If you did this salon marketing promotion correctly you should receive a cash flow boost within 14 days.</p>
<p>I have clients using this strategy and receiving no less than a 7% response rate. A more advanced strategy would be to send a sequence letter campaign, which I will cover in our next discussion.</p>
